Anacostia Area Sewer Rehabilitation Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This critical infrastructure initiative will rehabilitate approximately 20 miles of pipeline that runs along the Anacostia River, including:

The Anacostia Main Interceptor (AMI)

Approximately 5.1 miles of 30- to 66-inch pipes

The Anacostia Force Main (AFM)

33,000 linear feet of 108-inch PCCP

The East West Outfall Sewers (EWOS), East West Outfall Relief Sewers (EWORS), and North and South Interconnecting Branch Sewers (NIBS/SIBS)

Project Scope

Rehabilitation of approximately 20 miles of critical sewer infrastructure
Cleaning and condition assessment of existing interceptors
Flow diversion during construction
Installation of automatic Air Release Valves
Rehabilitation of RCP and concrete pipes
Cathodic protection system evaluation and restoration
